In the Bolgatanga area of Ghana, these baskets are traditionally used for carrying goods to and from the market. These smaller market baskets are perfect for children, or for organizing. Weavers in the region use the abundant Veta vera grass to weave these incredibly hardy, useful baskets. These speical baskets have no leather. Instead, the handle of these baskets has a handwoven fabric from local weavers. Please note that if color looks black on your screen, it is actually a very, very dark blue. Easily reshape your basket by quickly submerging in water, reshape by hand and hang to dry.
