Keymaster50P’s Value #9 states “that you can only best serve others when the most important person in your life is YOU.”
Tell us about how you practice self-care, be it mentally, physically, spiritually, or otherwise. The more we understand the myriad of ways that individuals approach personal health, the better we can instill healthy practices into our own lives.

I think balance is key in all aspects of life- especially self care. It might seem like a lot but I love my calendar and organizing my schedule ensures my sanity. I’ve gotten into the habit of writing things down immediately once I have plans. I schedule EVERYTHING. It helps my mental health to know if there is a place I need to be, I can always check. With that, there is always time to be spontaneous and get the every day things done in between – like grocery shopping 🙂
Physical and spiritual health kind of go hand in hand for me. I’ve learned that not everything is for everyone but once you figure out the things that really bring you joy, there’s always a way to incorporate that into doing something healthy for your body and soul. I love being outside – outdoor yoga, hiking or just spending time with my dog outdoors is an easy fix for my physical and spiritual health. Anything water related is healing for me- walking down the beach, swimming anywhere I can, even floating is therapeutic. I’ve yet to try one of those float places where you’re in a pod but the concept makes sense to me. Has anyone on here tried it? Please let me know your thoughts.
I love a good bath- bubbles, candles, epsom salt, a good book, calming playlist, etc. really helps relax any sore muscles- especially my brain. And of course sleep heals all- I make sure that I get at least 6-7 hours a night if possible. Also, I volunteer with a dog rescue which is so easy and fun that it doesn’t feel like work. If you have something you enjoy- there is always a program you can volunteer for in that field.
Being a foodie can be a battle with physical health but again, balance is key. I try to eat healthy and it’s easy for me since I love every vegetable and fruit I’ve ever tried, except Durian… that can go to someone else. Splurging and having “cheat meals” should always be allowed in moderation. I can’t diet and restrict myself from all carbs or sugar or I will binge or get angry- hangry- for chocolate or a cheeseburger or fries or… I could go on. I’ve found that if I’ve recently had several meals that weren’t really great for me, I will crave a salad or fruit and that’s my body is telling me to chill on the fatty/sugary foods. So, I try to get ahead of that and balance my meals each day but I’m not going to NOT eat that slice or 3 slices of pizza if I really want it. I just won’t do it every day. And I try to eat vegetarian multiple times a week since it’s more sustainable for the earth. It’s the little things that really facilitate a healthy balance overall. I’m sure I’ve left some things out but I can’t wait to hear everyone else’s thoughts on this topic!
